  • 2 teaspoon - 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon - 1 teaspoon grated lemon zest
  • ½ teaspoon - 1/2 teaspoon fresh juice
  • 1 teaspoon - 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon - 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon - 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon - 1/2 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon - 1/4 teaspoon chili powder
  • ¼ teaspoon - 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper
  • 2 ½ cup - 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoon - 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 teaspoon - 4 teaspoons white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon - 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup - 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 ¾ cup - 1 3/4 cups buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Gather all ingredients.
  2. To make the cowboy butter: Stir softened butter, garlic, parsley, chives, mustard, lemon zest, lemon juice, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, thyme, chili powder, and crushed red pepper in a bowl until well combined; set aside.
  3. Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).

  6. Pour biscuit dough into the baking dish and spread over melted butter. Use a bench scraper to cut dough into 9 equal pieces.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown on top, 20 to 25 minutes.
