Ingredients

  • 2 cup - 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon - 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon - 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon - 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon - 1/2 teaspoon cayenne, or to taste
  • ½ teaspoon - 1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
  • 1 - 1 large egg
  • 1 cup - 1 cup milk, whole or 2% butterfat
  • 4 Tablespoons - 4 Tablespoons melted unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cup - 1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • ¾ cup - 3/4 cup diced deli ham
  • ¾ cup - 3/4 cup pimiento-stuffed green olives, rinsed and drained

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C). Grease an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2-inch loaf pan, and set aside.
  2. Add flour, sugar, baking powder, kosher salt, cayenne, and granulated garlic to a large mixing bowl, and stir to combine.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine egg and milk, and slowly drizzle in melted butter. Add egg mixture to flour mixture, and stir until dry ingredients are just moistened.
  4. Stir in Cheddar cheese and deli ham, and fold in olives. Batter will be stiff; do not overmix. Pour into the prepared pan.
  5. Bake in the center of the preheated oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, 35 to 40 minutes.
  6. Cool in the pan about 10 minutes, remove from the pan and cool on a rack, about 10 minutes more. Using a serrated knife, cut into slices and serve warm, or at room temperature.
